What is Venetian plastering?
In short, Venetian plastering is applying a lime based plaster to create stunning range of finishes from a smooth marble effect to a rough rustic range of textures, such as wood or concrete for example. This is achieved by applying multiple coats with up to six layers to achieve the desired effect. Burnishing gives the plaster its impeccable shine, topped with beeswax and buffed to create that mirror-like, polished surface that you can’t help but run your fingers over
These types of finishes are becoming hugely popular as feature walls, chimney breasts, TV unit walls and even in bathroom and kitchen areas to bring an extra bit of something special to the home. These modern and rustic finishes also look incredible in commercial and industrial spaces; why not have your company logo incorporated into a wall in your office?
A little background on the product…
Venetian plastering is a technique that is believed to be around 9,000 years old. Originating in Mesopotamia, it was popular amongst the ancient civilisations of Rome, Greece and the Egyptians.
The plaster is made up of slaked lime with additional aggregates such as marble and glass to give extra depth to the finished product.
